Taylor Swift Shines in New Eras Tour Bodysuit with More Than 10,500 Crystals

Taylor Swift has always enjoyed dressing up with bling, especially when performing on stage during the tour. While performing her record-breaking Eras Tour, Swift’s appearances have always included a lot of glittering crystals, shining beads, and sparkles.

Her eye-catching outfits complement a line from one of her recent songs, titled Bejeweled, in which she sings about putting on jewelry as a symbol of self-empowerment. Swift does not leave any stone unturned in choosing the dazzling costumes that are embellished with crystals and beads that allure the spectators in the last rows of the stadium.

Some of the exquisite pieces are actually by one of Swift’s preferred designers, Zuhair Murad. The Lebanese fashion designer is known for his opulent embroidery and beadwork details integrated into beautiful gowns and stage-wear worn by pop icons. Murad and Swift have been working together on her recent tours, designing crystal-studded bodysuits and stage outfits for her shows.

In her concert at the Wembley Stadium in London on August 16, 2024, Swift surprised her fans with a one-of-a-kind Zuhair Murad bodysuit never worn before.The navy blue jumpsuit was bedazzled and it had glittering silver stars and half-moon which was sequined throughout the material of the jumpsuit. At the low waist line and short hemline fringe like strands of blue and silver beads were in place.

In an interview, Murad revealed that the astronomical-inspired piece was made over more than 120 hours and nearly three weeks of his atelier’s working time. The cosmic motif bodysuit which was also one of her most memorable creations had 180 machine-embroidered stars of different sizes applied all over the jumpsuit. But that was not all – the look also sparkled and shimmered with a mind-boggling 10,500 silver and powder blue crystal beads applied and hand-sewn separately on all the outfits.

When designing this new captivating bodysuit for the Swift’s Stadium Tour, Murad said, “For this one, Taylor wanted stars and moons.” To me, this seems to be the best one so far, with the symbolism fully reflecting both Taylor’s muse and my passion for romanticism. Well, I’ve always designed quite solid forms and I think that in itself is more than suitable for a stage.”

This new navy celestial bodysuit is the fourth bespoke Zuhair Murad piece Taylor Swift has ordered for her Eras Tour. Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad started his brand in 1997 in Beirut and came to prominence for his bead, sequin and crystal decorated clothing. He has embraced the glitz of the Hollywood archetypes of the Golden era his fashion shows to encapsulate Hollywood. Murad has become easily recognizable due to his unique style and succeeded in attracting the attention of such celebrities as Jennifer Lopez, Sofia Vergara, Blake Lively, and other stars who prefer to shine in sparkling red carpet creations.

Murad had just dressed Swift for many events when she asked him to design fabulous outfits for her record-breaking Reputation Stadium Tour she started in 2018.

The first creation was a sleeveless bodysuit with geometrical bead work that took more than 250 hours to hand make with more than 36000 beads and 11000 hand sewn crystals. Murad’s first design theme for Swift was not as daring as the subsequent one which was to follow.

For her subsequent Lover Fest tour in support of her 2019 “Lover” album, Swift went back to Murad for even more sparkle. The designer thought about a pastel pink bodysuit covered with more than 17000 multicolored crystals in floral pattern and the tulle overskirt with the graduated rhinestones.

Swifty loved this look and said, “Zuhair designed this dress, it is covered with crystals…so is my whole body really. So, welcome to the Lover concert where apparently, I’ve been crystallized.” The fans were captured when she performed a spin on stage and the full skirt swirled wildly.

While performing in 2024 Eras Tour, Swift needed unique bodysuits that would represent every era of her discography she has addressed throughout her successful career. Of course, she turned to her favorite designer Zuhair Murad.

At her first tour show in May 2022, Swift wore an eye-catching off-the-shoulder black bodysuit adorned with red and pink crystals shaped like flower petals. The vine motif was carried on through the length of the catsuit’s sleeves and legs that Swift wore when singing a medley of songs from her ‘Red’ album which symbolized her transformation from a country singer to a pop star.

Murad created two additional Eras Tour bodysuits for Swift prior to the fourth piece with 10,500 crystals that was released in August 2024. Audience was mesmerized by the galactic styled dress with hundreds of stars and moons hand embroidered and beads stitched on the dress.

For 4 tours up to her current 2024 Eras Stadium Tour, Murad has designed 4 crystal bodysuits for Swift and other beaded and sequined stage outfits. The sheer fashion details demanded hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of hand embroidery to set Swarovski crystals, beads, and sequins on Swift’s glittering concert wear.

The artist and designer have both progressively stepped up the ante with the subsequent creations. Their latest celestial collaboration reached new heights featuring more than 10,000 crystals applied by hand. Viewers have been glued to their seats watching Swift’s stages transform into other worldly stages, glowing under the spotlight.

Murad summed up his creative partnership with the global pop phenomenon saying: “And I believe that Taylor and I have a very similar passion for narrative design. My area of expertise is baroque opulent love told through beads and crystals, which fits the stage like a glove. It has been a pleasure to work with her.”

Based on fans’ reception as Swift’s Eras Tour makes its way around the world, she and Zuhair Murad will surely keep on dreaming up more magical designs that challenge the conventions of crystals for future tours. Given that she sings a song called “Bejeweled,” shimmering in rhinestones appears to be part of Swift’s DNA.
